The law enforcement community in southern Arizona is mourning the death of 23-year-old Carlos Ramirez, a Tucson Police Department recruit who was fatally shot at a home in southern Pima County early Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to reports of a shooting at a residence in the 7700 block of South Enchanted Spring Drive, near Valencia Road and State Route 86/Ajo Highway, at approximately 6 a.m.
When deputies arrived, they found Ramirez suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives believe the suspects may have been traveling in a gray 2007–2013 Acura MDX. Authorities said the vehicle may be missing its fuel door.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is asking anyone with information about the shooting, the suspects or the vehicle to contact 911.
